About Us
Jacklands Fishing Lakes lies in the beautiful Yeo Valley of North Somerset. Originally set up 20 years ago by Harry Waygood, a local gamekeeper and elver fisherman, the lakes provide an ideal coarse or fly fishing experience for beginners and local enthusiasts alike. The trout lake is well stocked with fish from table size to 2lbs+ and the coarse lake contains roach, perch, rudd, bream and carp. Despite being relatively close to Bristol and Nailsea the local area has an abundance of wildlife, which we are committed to preserving, increasing and sharing responsibly with our customers. Kingfishers and Martins can be spotted swooping low over the rhynes, Ducks breed happily and Herons are daily visitors. The little Grebe (or Dab chick) pictured on our home page has become our mascot! Dragonflies and Butterflies feed on the abundant plant life at the water margins and in the spring the waters teem with Tadpoles, both Frog and Toad varieties. We acquired the lakes in February 2009, following Harry's death. Refurbishment took 6 months and there remains much to do, but we are now ready to meet you all and look forward to welcoming you, getting to know you, hearing your fisherman's tales and, of course, sending you home with a delicious fish for supper! |
